Why Do You Get Depressed?

5-7% of the population are depressed. That's over 100 million world wide and most are on anti depressants. And over half the population feel down on a regular basis.

What depression is not

Depression is not a disease.


A disease is caused by a build up of toxins in the body therefore your body is having to rid itself of that disease via sneezing, cold & flue, fever, light headiness etc.. to bring you back to your normal state of wellness.

You were NOT born into this world depressed.

You are not born depressed. You are born completely whole with no problems. You may have been born with a disability or your body not like everyone else's but inside you were born completely whole with no feelings of depression, problems, stress, fear or anxiety.

You were born with the same opportunities as everyone around you. You were not destined to be depressed either - it doesn't work that way.

So if depression is not a disease and you were not born depressed then what has caused you to become depressed?

What is the cause of depression?

Depression comes later on in life by the events and circumstances you come in contact with and how you react to those which in turn creates your future.

Before you got depressed you would have been presented with numerous situations e.g. being let down, bullied, hurt by someone close to you or seen others who are doing well and your not etc.. and from that moment you made a choice to feel i.e. happy or sad about the situation - yes this is a choice, you were the last person to make the decision of how you are going to feel - don't worry most are not aware that you have the choice. Which is very much a good thing because when you realise you have the choice you can then choose to feel what every you want to feel!

When you choose to feel a certain way you attract all situations to you to prove that you are "sad" and then those situations in turn become proof of you being sad so therefore you end up feeling.... depressed! Then as life goes on and you are in that state of mind you continually attract more and more situations to you to make you more and more depressed.

Depression is caused by numerous things. Beliefs, Energy vibration, People around you, Colors, Lifestyle, self talk etc...

Beliefs are what get you to were you are now. If you believe you are depressed you are depressed. If you believe you are stupid. you are stupid. If you believe something about yourself then you are. Because you are always right. You mind will never argue with you it will accept exactly what you tell it weather it be positive or negative - it does what you tell it.

Energy Vibration - did you know that we are all made up of energy vibrating at a certain speed? When you are at a low energy level you attract low energy things such as fear, anxiety, poverty, theft etc.. when you are on a high level vibration you attract such things as wealth, freedom, happiness and joy.

People around you have a massive influence on you. If you group of friends are depressed then ironically you will be too. Because your group of friend have a huge influence on you and what you feel. You don't usually see a depressed person hanging around a group of really happy and vibrant people.

Colors have a huge impact on you also. If you always wear black then perhaps you should look at putting some color into your wardrobe. Ever worn a bright yellow top - how did it make you feel? Colors make you feel good.

Lifestyle - if you live a lifestyle of absolute boredom for instance watch to much TV, not doing anything exciting day in day out then no wonder your depressed. If you are going out with friends that support you and studying something you life or working at a job you enjoy then you are stimulating the brain which makes you feel good.

Excessive thinking

Do you excessively think? Thinking about the past, future etc.. dissecting every aspect of it over and over in your head? Blowing a situation out of proportion etc.. when you do this your not actually seeing what is really happening because your thinking mind is working overtime. Your mind is a tool. It is only suppose to think when it is needed such as an arm or a leg once it does its task (eg walk or pick something up) then it stops. Imagine if your arms and legs kept moving even after you finished using them - would be a little worrying!

Self talk is a major influence in your life. If you are telling yourself "i am worthless", "i don't deserve this", "I am stupid" then what good is that going to do you? Imagine someone that is always there for you to look after you, support you and provide for you - would you tell that person nasty things? Of course not. That person is you. You are all you got. You are the only one who can make yourself feel good, look after you, take care of you. When you batter yourself its silly because you are you.

Want to know something about those not so nice feelings called "depression"? They are there as a guide - yes it sounds crazy but hear me out. When you are on the right path and feeling great you don't feel sad, depressed or fear do you? You feel happy and joy. When you go off track you feel those not to nice feelings? These are to say "hey your off course we are just here to nudge you to get back on course" but.... what happens? We see them and identify ourselves as being them therefore we become them and they rule our life. They were not there to engulf and be us. They are there to direct you in the right direction.

How on earth would you know if you were on the right path if you never were told? How would you know if you were to pass your degree if you didn't have tests along the way to show you how your progressing? Same as life.
